Location: The Steading

Rumors

  • There is a patch of blue sky and green pasture hidden impossibly inside Carceri.
  • A giantess there welcomes little folk, so long as they are not stealing from her pantry.
  • Something is living in the walls beneath the feast table.

What is Known

  • The Steading is a divine pocket realm within Cathrys in Carceri.
  • It is tied to Grolantor, a giant god of food.
  • The realm stands in sharp contrast to the prison plane around it, with blue skies, green grass, and giant-sized crops.
  • Martha lives there in a massive house scaled for a giant around 150 feet tall.
  • Martha was preparing a feast for a festival honoring Grolantor when the party arrived.
  • Martha had previously relied on tiny helpers who were killed by her husband after he blamed them for bringing rats into the house.
  • The party was asked to deal with pests raiding Martha’s food stores.
  • Those pests turned out to include giant scorpions on the table and at least one giant rat inside the wall passages.
  • A mouse-hole opening in Martha’s house contains the remnants of a tiny living space with matchstick furniture, thread hammocks, and hidden contraptions.
  • Within that hidden space the party found a small biplane, immovable rods, and a wand of wonder.
  • Jesse is expected to arrive there and is said to know a trickster god on the next layer.

History

  • The party reached The Steading after following Abi through the deadly terrain of Cathrys.
  • Abi hesitated to enter the realm because of shame over her past, but still guided the party to its edge.
  • Martha welcomed the party and brought them into her giant home.
  • While helping Martha, the party fought giant scorpions across her dining table and later killed a giant rat in the wall refuge.
  • After Martha’s husband attacked the party in confusion, she drove him off and later confirmed he would be away for the night.
  • The party fortified the mouse-hole refuge and rested there while waiting for Jesse.

Loose Threads

  • Is Jesse’s trickster god truly Loki?
  • What killed or displaced the tiny folk who once lived in the walls?
  • What creature with red eyes still moves deeper in the dark passages?
  • Can The Steading remain untouched by the rest of Carceri forever?
